SOLIDARITY
THE CHARITY ORGANISATION "MOTHER TERESA".
Berti Pavimenti Legno is a company aware of social issues and works towards social responsibility. “Mother Teresa” is the demonstration, a constructive and social charity organisation founded on the awareness of the importance of human dignity, providing through voluntary work and a number of initiatives both financial and moral aid to the weaker groups in our society.
Motivating and supporting local government to develop policies aimed at providing aid to the needy; supporting distance adoption programmes and missionary work; promoting fair trade: these are just some examples of how this Charity Organisation operates and which is aimed at above all at residents living in the local area, local authorities and who works towards increasing solidarity, building an awareness of aid, social justice and participation in local democracy. In addition to raising funds to support the organisation itself, “Mother Teresa” implements financial initiatives during events and in collaboration with the parishes such as the sale of products produced by charities and third sector organisations. To promote social and cultural awareness this Charity organisation organises events to provide information and promote its aims through film societies, testimonials and debates.

THE COOPERATIVES "IL GRATICOLATO" AND "LA GINESTRA".
Berti Pavimenti Legno has been working alongside Il Graticolato and La Ginestra since 1998, two important cooperatives which run a Day Educational Centre for Occupation for the disabled. This centre utilises work as an educational process (occupational therapy) and each task assigned is aimed at rehabilitating and increasing the capacity of those involved in the programme.
Through occupational therapy, experimentation and “real” industrial processes outsourced by companies, it is possible to implement the concept “normalisation”: allowing the disabled person to create their own personal independence guaranteeing equality within the society they live in. Based on a concept of adulthood, integration and quality of life to safeguard the psychological-physical and social health of the person by acting before the “disability” becomes “social outcasting”.
“Thanks to the help of companies like Berti, who allow us to participate in their production processes” – explains Paolo a voluntary worker for Il Graticolato – “for several years now we have managed a number of work orders providing a regular paid job. In Berti’s case the young people involved in the project create wood samples for the range of pre-finished flooring or even better, create inlay designs. Something interesting: Il Graticolato also worked on a part of the extraordinary and beautiful inlay flooring installed in the Venetian Theatre La Fenice".
